We at Arts and Medicine has been up to a lot in the past few months! After a new leadership and board change with our M2s heading to dedicated, we saw the new team, headed by Naveen Gupta and Lena Deb, begin the year off with a bang. Namely we were able to continue the traditions of Wine and Paint nights and also Hippocrates café. Unfortunately, they have had to put a hold on a few of their new initiatives such as a Battle of the Bands Bar night, improv workshops, and dance workshops.
However, where the innovation and commitment of the team has come in has been through our COVID initiatives. Arts & Meds is dedicated to continuing our goal of providing an outlet for students to maintain extracurricular artistic passions, while also promoting wellness and joy. Student talent will not stop being showcased!
We have been hard at work and have implemented a few new initiatives. We created a fun social media challenge in which students submit a homemade meme/vine/tiktok, and the one with the most likes wins a $30 amazon gift card. We have started a Writer’s Guild where students can flex their literary muscles and stay connected, while learning amazing skills about a variety of different literary modalities. (if you are an interested student or faculty please email Naveen at ng632@georgetown.edu). We also continued our wine and paint night on zoom and will be doing a Hippocrates café this coming May 13 @ 12:00 EST!
Lastly, our amazing hospital visits hope to continue… virtually! Arts&Meds is recording a few songs in which we plan to send to patient life at GUH.
We are very proud of our team, and are committed to connecting Georgetown Medical School students with the arts.
